Kathryn is a vibrant person who is dedicated to attaining her own personal goals. She is always positive, helpful, and encouraging to the other students. We have enjoyed watching her progress over the last few years. We asked her to share a few thing about her journey. She was so eloquent that we decide to print the whole question and answer session in her words.
ArtFit: What classes do you attend at ArtFit?
Kathryn: I have attended MMA/Kickboxing, Beginner Power Pole, Belly Dance Basics, Hip Hop, Silks and Flexibility class. Due to my schedule I am currently taking Beginner Power Pole and MMA/Kickboxing.
ArtFit: How long have you attended classes here?
Kathryn: Almost 2 years!
ArtFit: What brought you to these classes?
Kathryn: Before moving to Lubbock I had been involved with MMA/kickboxing for 2 years, 8+ years of weightlifting (on and off), and 18 months of Ballroom dancing. I have been seeking ways to challenge my body in strength, balance, and movement. I found ArtFit in a Google search for pole classes. When I saw that ArtFit offered a variety of dance classes and MMA/Kickboxing I knew I had to stop by and check it out. I was able to stop by and have a look around the gym. Cheryl was able to answer all of my questions and answer some I hadn’t thought to ask. The instructors were extremely welcoming and encouraging without pressuring me to move at a pace I wasn’t comfortable with. Curiosity led me to ArtFit but Cheryl, Liv and Walt were the reasons I stayed.
ArtFit: What benefits have you gained from taking these classes?
Kathryn: So many benefits!
Physical benefits: Increased endurance, increased strength, increased flexibility, increased body awareness, increased spatial awareness, increased balance, and weight loss.
Mental/Emotional benefits: I am more secure in my own body. I am comfortable looking in mirrors to watch my form. I am a lot more confident and self-assured. I always look forward to socializing with gym friends and instructors. I have also learned so much about what I can push myself to do. I am discovering my potential at ArtFit.
ArtFit: Please tell us about any positive experiences that you have had with ArtFit or anything else that you would like to share.
